Moustapha Noumbissi

Born into a family that always loved and appreciated music, Moustapha Noumbissi was surrounded by music from an early age. It was not until he sang a solo a cappella rendition of “Silent Night” at a Christmas concert in third grade that the true musician in him was born. Moustapha has since gone on to perform in countless bands, ensembles, choirs and groups. Formal musical instruction began when he successfully auditioned for the Bryn Mawr Boys Choir, with whom he got to sing on a professisonal level and go on tour in Chicago, Canada, England, Ireland and the Czech Republic. Along the way, Moustapha picked up the guitar of which he was initially self taught, but eventually graduated to formal instruction and eventually college edcation in Jazz guitar and composition. Along with Jazz studies, Moustapha has also studied music production, theory, arranging, and piano. Today you can find Moustapha performing solo or with his Philadelphia based band “Cologne” where he serves as guitar player, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter. Moustapha has always appreciated great songwriting and even better guitar solos. As a self proclaimed musical “sponge”, Moustapha draws inspiration from many artists with some of his favorites including Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, and George Benson. Moustapha has always been a strong advocate of learning from the greats in the journey of discovering your own musical voice. A well rounded artist and musician, Moustapha has a musical resume that continues to grow with every lesson, performace, and knowledge through the years of experience that he imparts on his students.
