Ivan Dillard

Ivan hails from the piney woods of East Texas, where he started playing the cello in the 4th grade, and performed as a soloist with the Marshall Symphony before he had graduated high school. He earned a B.A. in music from the Meadows School of Fine Arts, where he was lucky enough to take lessons from the great Andres Diaz.

Since graduating, Ivan has played on numerous studio recordings in diverse genres such as Indie, Gospel, Country, Neo-Soul and Experimental while also writing his own music. Having been a musician as well as a boxer and physical trainer, he sees cello playing as a fine athleticism and teaches students to understand the physical mechanics of playing so that they can express themselves with freedom, power and control but without tension. He enjoys teaching students of all ages and skill levels.
