Emily Balcerak

Carle Place

Emily’s first experience with music started at age 8 when she began to play trumpet in her Elementary School band- a huge win in her book, as it was her first choice. She continued her trumpet education, and loved it, all while a secret storm was brewing, with the desire to learn, guitar, bass, and especially drums after watching any and all documentaries to be found about The Clash. While obtaining a traditional trumpet education, and even being granted the opportunity to preform in jazz and wind ensembles at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, she explored a different side of music, and continued to play drums and guitar in local punk and indie bands. This spurred a firm belief that variation and fun in music are everything, and developed a deep love for all genres. Emily currently preforms in a children’s rock band, and when she isn’t teaching she can be found performing stand up comedy, writing for music industry publications, or as a background actor in some of her favorite televison shows.
