David Burnett

David holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University and been performing and teaching music for over 20 years. Primarily a jazz saxophonist, Mr. Burnett is proficient on all five woodwind instruments and enjoys teaching. Having performed with many artists (including touring internationally for five years), David brings a diversely colorful musical background to his teaching and performing. His vast knowledge of the jazz and classical languages enables him to customize instruction to your taste in music! David loves all kinds of music and seeks to incorporate his successfully unique and empathetic approach to music instruction. A few accolades Mr. Burnett has earned along the way include the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and Theodore Pressor Scholarship. Venues include House of Blues-Anaheim/Cambridge, The Quays-Ireland, Tokyo School of Music-Japan, The Belly Up, La Jolla Playhouse, Balboa, Old Globe and Civic Theaters in San Diego. Several of David’s students have placed in the California Band Director’s Association (CBDA) and Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) honor groups throughout California. Many of his students receive music scholarships to universities across the nation. David is an active member and on the Legislative Committee of Local 325, AFM. With his love for teaching combined with his experience playing professionally, he can teach any age or skill level with grace and proficiency.
