Sarah Downey

Sarah is a native of Sarasota and a graduate of the Florida State University College of Music. She began her musical journey playing flute in 5th grade, and continued playing in concert band, marching band, and orchestra through college, where she learned many other instruments and also sang in choirs. She enjoys making music with ensembles, but her favorite part about music is sharing it by teaching other people!

During the day, she teaches elementary school music. Here at Sam Ash she teaches piano, flute, and guitar. Sarah specializes in teaching healthy instrumental techniques that will keep students safe from strain and injuries, along with building students’ confidence through a positive mindset that will help them fully enjoy practicing and performing.
