Katie Sabol

Las Vegas

Katie has been playing the Saxophone since she was 10 years old starting in middle school band, Piano when she was 14, and learned Clarinet and Flute while studied for her Bachelor’s Degree for Jazz Ensemble woodwind doubling. She studied at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania for her Bachelor’s Degree in Saxophone Performance and she studied her Master’s Degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of Maryland of College Park.

While studying saxophone in undergrad and grad school, not only was she the principle saxophonist in the top ensembles, she also professionally played pit orchestra gigs, played as a guest soloist with DC orchestras, and also taught private students throughout those years. She has attended a prestigious Saxophone Camp at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY with the top Saxophone Teachers in the country. That week at the camp, she learned so much from all the different teachers and met amazing connections with saxophonists all over the country. Also she has performed in Scotland, England, and France with her school ensembles. She performed in Jazz clubs in Scotland and England, performed wind band concerts in France, and her Marching Band played at the London 2012 Olympics. One of the teaching accomplishments she is so proud of is helping develop the Saxophone Camp at Mansfield University. She taught private lessons, small ensembles, and large ensembles. This program started with 12 students her first year, and by the fifth year, her last year the program was up to 30 students.

As a teacher, Katie strives to make sure all of her students learn what they need to learn, have fun doing it, and make sure they are as successful as possible. Former students have gone on to colleges such as Indiana University and University of Michigan. She makes sure to understand every student’s strengths and weaknesses. I always enjoy watching my students learn and grow and will do whatever I can to make that possible.

Besides playing, Katie is also a successful arranger. She has her own private arranging business and writes pieces for saxophone quartets, saxophone ensembles, jazz bands, and concert bands. She has a private studio in her home and when she isn’t teaching or playing she is constantly writing. With her arranging business she has a contract with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to write their pieces for saxophone quartets and can arrange any piece she wants.
