Kathy Martin has been playing music for over 30 years and has been teaching music lessons for over 25 years. She has an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching. She holds a state teaching license and has vast experience teaching music in schools and privately to a variety of students of all ages and levels.
While in college Kathy studied piano, was primary Euphonium player in classical wind ensembles at three separate colleges, and studied jazz improvisation on Tenor Saxophone. She was the only student who performed in ensembles on both a brass and a woodwind instrument during the time she pursued her Bachelor’s Degree. She has also spent time as a full-time professional musician playing tenor sax, flute, and singing in blues, zydeco, and variety bands.
Kathy believes in making learning fun and incorporates a variety of learning techniques into her lessons. She develops a highly individualized program designed to meet the needs of each student and strives to ensure that her students are having fun while learning. Sharing her love for music and learning is her passion.
