Jim started playing saxophone in the 5th grade and has been involved in music ever since. After being involved in school bands, he started performing in bands professionally at age 15, while still going to school. He picked up the flute and clarinet while studying at Indiana University at South Bend, where he earned at B.S. Degree in Elementary Education in 1975. After graduation, he played music full-time for about 10 years in Elkhart, IN, Seattle, WA and Orlando, Fl. Jim now continues to play semi-professionally, and in church settings and worship groups. He and his wife, Judy, perform as The Faux Duo, and they also have a jazz band called Jazz Elements, which performs in and around the Indianapolis area.
