Armando Silva

Armando Silva -is originally from Phoenix, AZ and had played trumpet for over 24 years. In 2003, Armando joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country and to play in the Marine Corps Band. During his 9 years as a United States Marine, Armando was a featured trumpet soloist, arranger, conductor and director of small ensembles, such as the Brass Quintet and Brass Band. Armando was a runner up nominee for Marine Musician of the Year in 2010, while deployed in Afghanistan, Helmand Province. Once exciting the U.S. Marines, he made San Diego his home and had been playing as a freelance trumpet player. He is currently enrolled at San Diego State University to fulfill his requirements to become a Music Education Major. Armando has taught trumpet for 10 years and teaches beginning brass basics to low brass instruments. Armando currently plays all genres of music to include school ensembles and professional groups. Mr. Silva has played with the Gaslamp Quarter Jazz Orchestra, The Manny Cepeda Orchestra, Afro Truko and the Seaworld Brass Band. You can currently find Armando playing in the late night Latin Jazz scene with Orquesta Tropical San Diego and Black Mambo.
